Reporting to and working closely with Marlborough Hospice Trust’s (MHT) Board and with other health providers within Marlborough, including, Te Whatu-Health New Zealand, this exciting new role is an opportunity for an inspiring people leader and stakeholder manager to direct and enhance, in every way, the performance, reputation, and standing of this well regarded, iconic and vitally important regional service.

As the provider of specialist palliative care for people within the Marlborough region, MHT’s vision strongly aligns its expertise with the needs of the community.  In keeping with contemporary practice MHT provides quality services across the care settings in the person’s home including aged residential care and, if required, in the acute hospital or the hospice inpatient unit.

MHT focuses on ensuring equitable provision of patient and family centred palliative care and in caring for each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs, in collaboration with their whānau and their other health providers.

MHT’s ambitious strategy is to continue to enhance its specialist palliative care services, while ensuring its relationships and partnership collaborations are enduring and empowering. Equity, quality, sustainability and innovation are central to MHT’s mandate, as are staff health and wellbeing and prudent management of the finances and all the community owned resource. 

To succeed in this role, you will be known for your inspiring and motivating leadership, and for your record of successful operational delivery, evidenced by sound fiscal results. Your focus on high-quality services and consumer experience will be underscored by your ability to formulate, articulate, and provide a clear strategic focus. You will be comfortable working with complexity, while balancing strategic and operational delivery. You will be able to successfully lead a staff of qualified professionals, and work effectively with MHT’s dedicated volunteers and benefactors.  Supported by your strong relationship and stakeholder management skills, you will ideally bring practical health experience to the role, and you will have empathy for, an understanding of, and commitment to te ao Māori.
