Accordingly, QLDC has created the brand new role of General Manager Strategy and Policy to help support and lead the organisation, communities and elected members into the next phase.
The General Manager Strategy and Policy has a key role to play in the identification and elevation of opportunities based on strategy and policy. The appointee will lead strategic development and planning for the Council as a whole and be responsible for strategic planning and operational delivery across the teams/areas of Policy; Growth Management; Economic Development; Sustainability, Climate Action and Resilience; Strategic Advice – Māori; and Reforms Programme Management.
You will be an experienced senior leader and people manager with a background in local government and a track record of strategy and policy development, advice and analysis. You’ll also be accomplished in setting the direction for long-term and annual planning processes and in developing and implementing monitoring & evaluation and outcomes frameworks. You will be customer-focused, creative and innovative in your thinking, have sound judgement and be known for your strong engagement and partnering skills, including with iwi. Your highly-developed intellect supported by your pragmatism to be able to introduce new thinking and effect significant, long-term on-the -ground change will further contribute to your success in the role.
