The Independent Māori Statutory Board (the Board) represents a voice for Māori across Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland). The Board and supporting Secretariat is a body corporate separate from and independent of the Auckland Council.  The Board’s Mission is: Te tōnuitanga i ngā pānga Māori i Tāmaki Makaurau – to advance the interests of Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau.
 
Your focus will include:

  • Ensuring Māori are a critical and active part in the economic development of Tāmaki Makarau
  • Driving equity across housing initiatives to improve the quality of life and increase the standard of living for Māori
  • Ensuring tamariki and rangatahi can develop into their full potential
  • Ensuring Māori are recognised for the unique value they add to the tourism industry in Tāmaki Makaurau

 
About you 

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Leadership and the ability to influence and create a cultural alignment
  • An understanding of the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi within the Local Government environment
  • Te reo Māori me ōna tikanga
  • Enthusiasm to affect change for Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau
  • Comprehensive verbal and written communication skills
  • Competency in providing advice to stakeholders, including Board members
  • Able to navigate political relationships and environments
  • Able to build productive relationships
  • Able to build productive relationships with the Secretariat
