The roles

With an exciting new strategic direction GNS Science, Te Pῡ Ao (GNS) is looking to appoint two Senior Managers into its Research Strategy & Partnerships Group.

The roles will be responsible for securing a significant proportion of GNS’s future income through government and commercial contracts. As well as managing teams that support GNS researchers in their proposal development and building commercial and business partnerships, these Managers are part of GNS’s wider Strategy Team helping build and develop GNS’s future research direction.

About you

Leading the development of commercial opportunities, the Commercial and Business Partnerships Manager would suit someone with:

  • senior leadership experience in a science organisation or similar
  • a background in identifying and developing partnerships with the business sector, the crown, Māori and iwi
  • expertise in the development and delivery of commercial strategies, initiative and plans
  • knowledge of research and/or commercial contracting.

Leading GNS’s Research Office and its development of research proposals and bids, the Science Strategy Portfolio Manager would suit someone with:

  • a Ph.D in earth science, engineering, social science or a relevant discipline
  • expertise in influencing, developing and implementing an organisation’s strategic research direction
  • knowledge of research bidding and contracting processes
  • experience working with crown entities, Māori and iwi in the development of research science and innovation policy.
