- A district poised for massive growth.
- A facilitating and enabling Council.
- Community service and wellbeing.
The Horowhenua District offers an exceptional blend of whanau-friendly lifestyle, agriculture, horticulture, education, and commercial enterprise in an area that runs from the Tararua Range to the sea. The Horowhenua District Council is poised to manage extensive growth of its district with the completion of the Waka Kotahi Expressway and an estimated doubling of the population, with land access to build 3000 homes and an industrial park.
Council is seeking to appoint its next Chief Executive (CE) who will lead a staff of around 240 people. The CE will be strategically focused, and an enabler for delivery and action, to meet the growth and demands of the future. There will be an expectation of ensuring the organisation is fit-for purpose and that iwi partners and stakeholder relationships are visible, active and effective.
To succeed in this role, you must be a seasoned senior leader who has led an organisation or substantial business unit. You will be a highly effective people leader who is empowering and inspirational, and be able to deliver on Council’s vision. You will be a visible leader who engages well with iwi, stakeholders and the community, and you will have a good understanding of Central Government machinery and those networks. Experience gained in local government would be ideal, and having commercial experience and financial management skills are important.
This is a great opportunity to join and lead a group of passionate professionals who strive to serve their district.
