This is a significant and exciting opportunity for a highly experienced leader, in a newly-created Tier 2 position within the Ministry for Primary Industries.

MPI is committed to engaging with Māori, iwi and hapū as both Treaty partners and significant participants in the primary sector.

This role will oversee and guide MPI’s relationship with Māori primary sector partners and ensure MPI is well positioned to support the Māori-Crown relationship as an organisation.
You will have extensive experience of successful strategic leadership in complex environments, leading with mana and purpose.

Importantly, you will have knowledge of te ao Māori, including an advanced level of fluency and application of Te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga and will be a skilled exponent in a Māori cultural setting.
You will assist MPI to build and maintain effective partnerships with Māori and provide strategic direction to support Māori primary sector aspirations and results.

You will have experience working with Ministers and iwi/Māori leaders in the primary sector.

Inside our organisation you will sponsor MPI’s strategy and work programme for lifting capability to deliver for and with Māori.

This includes supporting our business units to build capability to work effectively with Māori to better deliver on our strategic priorities, meet our obligations under te Tiriti o Waitangi and support the Māori-Crown relationship.
