Principal Adviser

As the Principal Advisor, you will provide specialist people & culture advice, information, and knowledge to support the leaders on people-related matters such as employee/industrial relations, performance management, conflict resolution, payroll, and business improvement.  This is a great opportunity for a seasoned public servant who is attuned to the bigger picture, context, political environment, and pace of change. 
 
You will be partnering with the broader People & Culture generalist team by providing mentoring and guiding them in best practice.  Working within this small team you will bring technical expertise, build strong relationships, and can pivot your performance and delivery styles as needs arise – this will determine your success in this role.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing people & culture service delivery to the leadership team, senior managers, and staff.  You need to be able to evidence your sound professional experience, alongside working collaboratively with business groups to facilitate, discover and improve people & culture business practices and requirements.
 
With the increase in demand for services across the speciality areas of employment and industrial relation, system focussed and a deep understanding of payroll, you must be results driven.  Are you able to take the initiative with problem solving, resilient in you endeavours and can constructively engage with others, then this role could be for you?
 
While there are no mandatory requirements for this position, relevant tertiary qualifications will be well regarded.
 
Manatū Taonga – Ministry for Culture and Heritage provides advice on arts, culture, heritage, and broadcasting issues in consultation with Government ministers. They review legislation, major policy proposals and developments that have significance to the sector.
