Strategic Agreements Manager

  • 18-month fixed term.
  • Strategic execution.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) is a Crown Entity established to protect and preserve the lives, property, and environment of all New Zealanders. FENZ does this through reducing unwanted fires, responding to fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and supporting increased community readiness and recovery. As the most trusted public sector agency, FENZ works to embed their values which reflect what is important to their people and what is core to who they are and the organisation they aspire to be.
Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Directorate in the Office of the Chief Executive, this 18-month fixed term position will support FENZ to achieve its strategic priorities with the United Fire Brigades’ Association of New Zealand (UFBA). The UFBA is an incorporated society and a registered charity which serves and represents the interests of over 550 fire brigades of all types throughout the country, comprising more than 13,500 firefighters. As Strategic Agreements Manager you will design and develop a new relationship agreement and performance framework, and then establish the systems and processes to embed ongoing monitoring and management. The overarching objective is to create a valued and mutually aligned long-term relationship.
Acknowledged for your stakeholders and relationship management skills, you will have proven experience in negotiation and contract management in commercial settings. A collaborative facilitator, you will be accustomed to achieving strategic and operational outcomes supported by evidence-based decision making. Your comfort with ambiguity and complexity and your understanding of Government based procurement and sourcing rules will ensure you are seen as a trusted advisor, both within FENZ and by UFBA. This role will require high-level analytical, networking and problem solving, along with relationships at the senior echelons of the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity to direct and influence a mutually beneficial and enduring long-term agreement and framework in a critical community-based sector.
