As Group Leader Health Surveillance and as a member of the Health and Environment Leadership Team, working alongside the Group Leader Health Laboratories you will provide strategic leadership and future planning. Leading a large team of scientists you will deliver the Business Group’s surveillance function. This includes epidemiologists, analysts, public health physicians as well as data and informatics support and development.

In this critical role, you will ensure enhanced integration and collaboration is achieved. Working closely with the Health and Environment Group Leaders and Directors, you will contribute to the development and implementation of strategies, deliver current and new science services, as well as research and development services in suppprt of health surveillance.

With demonstrated senior-level experience in health and laboratory settings or in responding to health emergencies, you will be acknowledged for your technical knowledge and your ability to engage effectively with a range of scientific and specialised audiences. Your credibility, underwritten by your science successes, will support your effective open communication and safeguard the accomplishment of strategies and pathways of delivery. Your ability to ‘see the big picture’ will be tempered by your comfort with detail, as will your focus on quality deliverables directed to understanding health and/or environmental health surveillance operations.

You will have a tertiary qualification in science, ideally to a PhD level, and leadership experience at a senior level for this Wellington-based position.
