As Group Leader Health Laboratories, and as a member of the Health and Environment Leadership Team, working alongside the Group Leader Health Surveillance, you will provide strategic leadership and future planning. Leading a large team of scientists to deliver clinical virology and bacteriology health laboratory services,  bioinformatics and whole genome sequencing as well as research and development.

In this critical role, you will ensure enhanced integration and collaboration is achieved. Working closely with the Health and Environment Group Leaders and Directors, you will contribute to the development and implementation of strategies, deliver current and new science services, and grow research and development capability.

Your experience and knowledge of the health sector and operational laboratory work, combined with your reputation for research leadership, will be valued. You will have a record of successful design and execution of strategy in scientific and commercial settings. An effective communicator, you will be comfortable sharing skills, facilities and technology to ensure science services and research are achieved with minimal risks. Collaborative, with a focus on quality research aligned to commercial outcomes, you will enjoy customer and stakeholder engagement.

This is an opportunity to leverage your interest in technology and its influence on science in support of the delivery of high-quality scientific services.

You will have a tertiary qualification in science, ideally to a PhD level, and leadership experience at a senior level for this Wellington based position.
