The Human Rights Commission | Te Kahui Tika Tangata was created to provide better protection of human rights in Aotearoa and operates in accordance with the Human Rights Act 1993. It is funded through the Ministry of Justice but carries out its responsibilities independently of the New Zealand Government as an independent Crown entity.   
  
The Commission is embarking on a period of exciting growth, stemming from its commitment to supporting whakamana tangata (a life of dignity for all). This growth will be managed around a continued investment in its staff, with a focus on building a truly Tiriti-based organisation.   
 
Join Ahi Kaa and be part of leading the commission to become authentically te Tiriti based. Reporting to the Pou Ārahi, you will lead a team focused on advancing Indigenous and Tiriti rights through a varied work programme, ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently and effectively to improve outcomes for tangata whenua. You will have a strong understanding of mātauranga Māori and a tikanga based approach to relationships, with a reputation for successful projects and advice in relationship to iwi, hapū and communities. 
You will provide effective management and coordination of team members, in a matrix approach using planning tools to manage workflow, and mentor others in project management disciplines and methodology. 
 
You will have a deep understanding of te ao Māori, and of indigenous rights and their significance in Aotearoa. An accomplished communicator using te reo Māori and English, you will have a track record of providing robust Tiriti-based analysis and advice.

Ka whakahaere, ka kōtuitui koe i ngā mahi poukapa a ngā kamahi o te rōpū e whakaritea ai te rere o ngā mahi, ka akoako hoki koe i ētahi atu ki ngā tikanga whakahaere kaupapa.

Ka tino mārama koe ki ngā āhuatanga o te ao Māori, nga tika iwi taketake me te whai pānga o ēnei ki Aotearoa nei. Ka tau koe ki te whakawhiti kōrero i te te reo Māori me te reo Pākehā, ka whai wheako hoki mō te tuku tohutohu e pā ana ki Te Tiriti.
