Delivering public health services to a population of 165,000, with 3,500 staff, through a service network covering the East Coast of the North Island, Hawke’s Bay DHB (HBDHB) is seeking to appoint a Deputy General Manager, Hospital. HBDHB delivers health services to this region in alignment with its shared values and behaviours: he kauanuanu (respect), Ākina (improvement), raranga te tira (partnership), and tauwhiro (care).

This whole-of-scope position reports to the General Manager within the Hospital Group and enables the delivery of high-quality healthcare that is safe, equitable, timely, person- and whānau-centred, and clinically effective and efficient.

To succeed in this vital role you will provide flexible, senior management in support of the General Manager in the leadership, governance, planning, coordination, and operational delivery within the Hospital Group. Working very closely with the Group Leadership Team (GLT), you will support delivery of a consistently high standard of service across the six domains of quality.

With a minimum of five to seven years of operational leadership experience in the health sector, you will be someone acknowledged for your successes in delivering outcomes. Your successes and experience will be backed up by your strong project management skills and experience. Well versed in managing staff, you will be comfortable working in ‘change’ environments. Your credibility will ensure you are seen as an exemplar of good practice, and your strategic aptitude will empower you to recognise and take account of regional and national trends. You will appreciate the importance of cultural equity and ensure te tiriti o Waitangi and other aspirations of Māori living in Hawke’s Bay are at the forefront of decision making.

This is an opportunity to lead and motivate others through future-focused planning and implementation, and to enhance and secure equity of health services.
