ServiceIQ is the industry training organisation (ITO) for the aviation, hospitality, retail, travel, tourism, and museums sectors. They support employer, learner, and Government stakeholders by:

  • Setting relevant standards, and the quality assurance for those standards
  • Facilitating the training supply and needs of the service industry
  • Advocating on behalf of the industry for skills leadership and workforce development
  • Providing national and regional perspectives, leadership and policy setting across the sector
  • Championing the ongoing development, implementation, review, and continuous improvement of ServiceIQ’ s Māori Strategy and action plan, with a primary focus on internal capability initiatives to support parity of participation and educational achievement; and Service IQ’s organisational approach to Te Ao Māori, through the Te Pae Tawhiti Māori Cultural Framework.

The role:

You will champion the ongoing development, implementation, review and continuous improvement of the Māori Strategy and action plan, with a primary focus on internal capability initiatives to support parity of participation and educational achievement; and ServiceIQ’s organisational approach to Te Ao Māori, through the Te Pae Tawhiti Māori Cultural Framework. You will also support the leadership team, including the CEO, in their roles as the organisation transitions across to Te Pukenga. A further focus of your role will be ensuring Māori employers and students are comfortable in their dealings with ServiceIQ.  

You will have:

  • A proven ability to tautoko parity for Māori students
  • A deep appreciation of why and how Māori are best supported to be their authentic selves
  • A proven ability to ‘broker kōrero’ with sector participants to ensure employers understand the mutual benefits of attracting Māori trainees/students
  • Enough life experience and mana to be able lead korero about this kaupapa
  • A warm and encouraging interpersonal style
  • Vocational education sector credibility and the ability to develop and maintain credibility, trust, and respect, and inspire others to work to a common goal, through strong advocacy, influencing and interpersonal communication skills
  • Te Reo Māori proficiency and well-developed knowledge and understanding of Tikanga Māori, Mātauranga Māori, and the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Cultural capability to drive parity of educational achievement for Māori and Pasifika learners.
