Advisor, Resource Recovery
- Make a real difference for the city.
- A role where you can help shape the future of resource recovery in Porirua.
Thanks to new housing developments, large scale regeneration projects and new transport links, Porirua is rapidly growing into a diverse, well-connected city with big opportunities. With all that in mind, Porirua City Council is rejuvenating and expanding to prepare for its future growth and continues to develop a resilient, liveable city for our future generations.
On behalf of Council, we are seeking an experienced resource recovery advisor (waste minimisation) who can own and embrace change as Council gets ready to think and work differently. You’ll be a straight thinker and a resilient type who can foresee potential issues and challenges. We need smart people who are innovative and want to make things better. If you understand how to work with businesses and communities in delivering commercial resource recovery programmes, your engagement and leadership skills are just what is needed.
You’ll be energetic and excellent at getting people on board with your ideas and sharing your enthusiasm for resource recovery. You will need an understanding of commercial realities in resource recovery and how to deliver programmes to help business. You will know how to prepare business cases, manage contracts, manage projects, and have highly developed writing skills.
With huge changes from central government on how waste management and minimisation is to be delivered, now is the time for Council to rethink its approach to resource recovery. Ideally, you’ll have relevant tertiary qualifications and you’ll bring experience in local government and waste management and minimisation.
This is a rare opportunity and one that could be a complete game-changer for you, as you’ll be directly shaping the direction of Porirua’s resource recovery tools and infrastructure for generations to come.
Entry to New Zealand from all countries remains strictly controlled to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. You may only apply for this role if you have the right to work in New Zealand. For information about New Zealand work or residence visas, please visit www.immigration.govt.nz
