Policy & Advocacy Advisor

  • Fascinating sector.
  • Newly-created position.
  • Excellent career step.

Registered Master Builders Association (RMBA) represents New Zealand’s premier building and construction companies. RMBA have been building the foundations of this country, its homes and workplaces for over 100 years. The voice of the building and construction industry, RMBA represents quality-built environments where New Zealanders live, work and play.

The Policy and Advocacy Advisor is a key role providing essential assistance to the Policy and Advocacy Manager, and the CEO where appropriate, in the execution of RMBA’s policy and advocacy work.
The person sought will be self-driven and highly efficient with a sound understanding of policy and advocacy, and the ability to effectively navigate the complexities of the building and construction sector and regulatory system. You will have great attention to detail as you assist in the preparation of the monthly Board reports, the development of submissions, presentations, speeches, talking points and other documents requiring excellent writing skills.
You will be a self-starter with great initiative and the ability to synthesise data and information into succinct and digestible formats. You’ll be happy engaging with people from all walks of life, working both collaboratively and autonomously at different times, and getting stuck into research on a variety of big topics.
This is a stimulating and varied role working with Government and the wider sector to explore innovative ways of addressing critical issues at a time of unprecedented change affecting New Zealand’s housing markets and the role of the construction industry in the New Zealand economy.
Entry to New Zealand from all countries remains strictly controlled to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. You may only apply for this role if you have the right to work in New Zealand. For information about New Zealand work or residence visas, please visit www.immigration.govt.nz
