As a government entity, Sport New Zealand Ihi Aotearoa is proud to be the kaitiaki of our country’s play, active recreation and sporting system, from grassroots to elite sport. We do this through partnerships with national sport and recreation organisations, regional sports trusts, central government bodies, councils and other key stakeholders. Although a Crown Entity, we have responsibility as the lead policy advisor and report directly to the Minister for Sport and Recreation.
The Group Policy Manager will lead the policy team in providing high-quality policy advice to the Minister, across government and to the business, leading engagement with the Minister’s Office, and overseeing Ministerial servicing. This role requires a high-level of engagement across the business, with the Senior Leadership Team, CE and Board, and with the Minister and Minister’s Office.
To be effective in this key role, you will be a seasoned operational policy professional who has proven experience in developing and managing a high-performing team. The environment is fast-moving, so you will need a high-level of agility and possess a pragmatic approach to issues, while managing risk and providing high-quality advice. Whilst the role is largely operational, you will have strategic nous. You will have a passion for play, active recreation and sport and a belief in the value of physical activity to contribute to the wellbeing of everybody in Aotearoa NZ.
