Chief Executive

  • High profile health sector organisation.
  • Lead positive change.

“Ka pū te ruha, ka hao te rangatahi. As an old net fades a new one is made”

The New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) represents more than 51,000 members including nurses, midwives, students, kaimahi hauora, healthcare workers and allied health professionals. NZNO’s members are united in their professional and industrial aspirations and play a critical role enhancing the health and wellbeing of all people of Aotearoa New Zealand.

NZNO recognises the need to remain responsive to all its members’ needs and to do so will require progressive change. This requires a Chief Executive who will lead the organisation in pursuit of several important initiatives, including working towards a true bicultural partnership, guided in this process by Te Runanga o Aotearoa, who represent the concerns and interests of Māori members by ensuring that essential Tikanga is upheld and that the wider Kaupapa of the organisation reflects Te Rūnanga values.

To be effective in this role you will be comfortable providing strategic and operational leadership that is supportive of transformational change.  The role requires an advocate who will champion the NZNO and its members’ needs, and who will be comfortable with complexity and have proven ability to work with a range of stakeholders to ensure outcomes are delivered.  Recognised for your communication skills, you will ensure members have confidence in NZNO and the value it provides.

This is a critical role, where an understanding of, or experience, in the health sector would be desirable.
