This highly rewarding role provides critical advice and services related the implementation of Treaty of Waitangi settlements. The Senior Advisor, Implementation will lead the resolution of complex implementation issues. This will be through thorough analysis, assessment of potential options and pathways to resolve issues, sharing best practice for implementation. The appointee will work with claimant groups to identify matters they seek to resolve, providing a range of options for resolution strategies.

This role is highly engaged with claimants and the appointee needs to be recognised as a policy area expert, respected by both Government partners and Māori. You must be able to think laterally and be able to challenge assumptions with a high level of confidence and initiative. Experience and knowledge of the settlement of Treaty grievances and experience of leading complex projects to a successful conclusion will be highly valued. The role also requires someone with a sound knowledge of te reo and tikanga Māori, who has experience of working with Māori groups and organisations. A knowledge of judicial processes and principles of natural justice and of New Zealand’s constitutional framework will also be advantageous.
