The Manager, Operational Policy is responsible for the delivery of high-quality policy advice and support across Te Arawhiti’s operations, particularly in relation to Treaty settlement negotiations, the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011, and on issues or litigation impacting the Treaty settlement framework, including Waitangi Tribunal remedies. With up to nine direct reports, this role leads a team of subject matter experts working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver operational goals.  As a leader and people manager in Te Arawhiti the Manager, Operational Policy will work collaboratively with peers to ensure the effectiveness of the management group. 

Proven experience in leading and managing teams is sought, along with an ability to identify and assess work areas for capability development. A sound understanding of Treaty settlement policy frameworks, the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011, and knowledge of historical and contemporary issues relating to Te Triti o Waitangi will be highly valued in this role. Previous experience will show an ability to provide clear advice and communication to Ministers, Cabinet Committees or Select Committees.
