Group Manager, Community Services
- Refreshed organisation in a period of growth.
- Make a difference for the community.
Nelson City Council is one of six Unitary Authorities in New Zealand and as such it has a wide and diverse portfolio of community, infrastructure and environment management activities. Nelson City has been renowned for its outstanding arts and culture, vibrant tourism and hospitality scene, a buoyant commercial sector and strong employment growth. Like elsewhere in regional NZ, these sectors have felt the impact of COVID-19. However, we look forward to a vibrant economic future – and we remain the gateway to famous regional attractions including Abel Tasman National Park.
In this role, you will ensure group strategic outcomes are translated effectively into operational plans and delivery across key activities including Community Partnerships, Arts, Culture, Festivals, Libraries, Parks and Facilities. You will have demonstrated ability to manage diverse and complex relationships, to monitor and evaluate the performance of community activities, and to lead the provision of high-quality advice to Council and your senior leadership peers.
To be successful in this role you will be a highly effective leader of people and be able to lead with credibility across a range of outcomes that our community and elected members are passionate about. You will also have a good understanding of local government legislation and a demonstrable commitment to partnering with iwi. You will be an outstanding communicator, able to influence and earn respect from a diverse group of agencies, community organisations and Council staff.
This is an opportunity to join a refreshed organisation and to make a real difference to the city.
