This senior executive role provides the opportunity to make a significant impact in NZ sheep and beef farming by driving B+LNZ’s farming excellence programmes.

You will pull together the strands from the market, government and societal influence, emerging knowledge and technologies to support farmers’ endeavours to drive both productivity and profitability while achieving recognition as “world best” environmental stewards.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide strategic leadership of science and research, extension system design and product development, sector capability, and the Future Farm programme. You’ll build sector-wide partnerships to deliver successful outcomes in these areas. The role is a key integrator of internal programmes of market needs and assurance, regulatory policy and environmental management, as well as future thought leadership to ensure farmers can address current and emerging on-farm opportunities.

This will require a candidate who has a strategic, innovative and creative mindset and excellent operational abilities coupled with a deep knowledge of pastoral farming systems. Strengths in people leadership and relationship management are essential for building strong teams and successful partnerships. Sound judgement, collaboration and the ability to influence are also pre-requisites for this position. Previous executive-level experience would be ideal.
